Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (May 5)

STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — Instead of mellowing out for summer, there's some significant weather headed towards the Southland.

First off — the waves. Expect another round of heavy surf throughout the day.

The event has already peaked, but it is still dangerous with another high tide around 10:30 p.m.  After that time, the advisory expires and things will settle down.

There's a strong on-shore flow in place, and that is translating into a thick marine layer possibly squeezing out a little drizzle here and there Tuesday morning.

A wind advisory will kick in for the high desert and last through Wednesday because of the on-shore flow.

By Thursday and Friday, a late season upper level low will move into the area. This will translate into the threat of showers and thunderstorms.

This system has some good lift associated with it, but not a lot of moisture to work with.

Nevertheless, it will be unsettled Thursday and Friday. Skies will clear up over the weekend and Mother's Day looks warmer and nice.
