Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (March 1)

STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — The center of this low pressure system is now just off the Central California coast ... it's going to open up into a trough through the night and it should exit our region pretty quickly at that point.

So here's what we can expect through the rest of the night:

We are looking at a band of heavy rain pushing into the area through the dinner hour.

Later, look for continued scattered showers. It looks like our atmosphere is a bit unstable early on in the overnight hours. However, as the system leaves, things settle down very quickly.

So overnight, look for the continued possibility of thunderstorms that are capable of producing heavy downpours and small hail. We also can't rule out the chance for a low-grade tornado.

By tomorrow, we have just a few widespread scattered showers. However, I think the bulk of the viewing area will remain dry.

By Monday, a ridge begins to work into the area ... and we are looking at warmer weather. Keep in mind the potential for flash flooding is still present tonight so you still need to be on your guard.
