Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (July 12)

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)   —  It was a little warmer Saturday.

A ridge of high pressure that was positioned to the east of our area is going to elongate and settle to the north and west. That means we'll see warmer weather, but the high is also going to draw up some monsoonal moisture. That means we can expect higher dew points with the chance for thunderstorms.

The latest models show a wave of energy rotating through the area tomorrow and it looks like it will move right through the LA Basin.

Right now it appears that most of the moisture is situated in the mid to upper levels of the atmosphere that means we have the threat at dry lightning strikes.

Mountain communities could see a thunderstorm and that brief but heavy rain could bring flash flooding to communities.

Please keep your KCAL9/CBS2 weather app handy and listen and watch the radio for the potential of warnings and watches. Even if you don't have to deal with the thunderstorm chance it's going to feel sticky and uncomfortable for the next several days.

It looks like the dog days of summer may be barking just a bit.
