Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Jan. 7)

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Look for some cooling for the next couple of days. Temperatures will drop into the mid- to upper-60s by Wednesday and Thursday, which is around average for this time of year.

A couple of fronts are moving through the area. They are unfortunately moisture-starved, so a dry forecast will continue.  A chance for a sprinkle in the mountains as the pressure centers pass through can't be completely ruled out, but the chances are less than 15 percent.

By the weekend, an off-shore flow sets up again for some warmer temperatures. The long-range forecast still calls for dry weather here in the Southwest. This is very ominous, as we have only received less than one inch of rain for the water year.

As far as the Midwest cold blast is concerned, the mercury will inch up Wednesday. Things are better for the weekend. However, the long-range models show another arctic blast late next week.

Basin - low 70s

Beaches - upper 60s

Valleys - mid 70s

Mountains - mid 50s

Deserts - upper 60s
