JetBlue Flight Scheduled To Land In Long Beach Diverted To LAX

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A JetBlue Airways flight scheduled Wednesday to land in Long Beach was diverted to Los Angeles International Airport.

Sky 2's Stu Mundel reports that Flight 1521, which flew out of Portland, safely landed at LAX about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.

"The Long Beach tower was talking to this aircraft. It actually had to divert. Was flying over the ocean for a little bit," Mundel said.

An airport official at LAX said the plane was diverted due to mechanical problems but did not elaborate.

There was no word yet on how many people were on board the flight at the time.

Meanwhile, Long Beach Airport said via Twitter (@LBAirport) that passengers would be transported by bus to Long Beach.
