Japanese Media Company Reportedly In Talks To Buy Dreamworks

GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — A major Japanese media company is reportedly in talks to buy Dreamworks Animation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, SoftBank is considering a deal worth $3.4 billion for the studio behind such hits as "How To Train Your Dragon," "Shrek" and "Madagascar."

Dreamworks reportedly held an emergency hearing on Thursday to consider the offer.

THR cites a source saying Founder and CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg would sign a five-year contract to remain with the company.

Dreamworks called the report just rumors and speculation.
