Jackie Robinson Will Be 1st Player Honored With Statue At Dodger Stadium

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Dodgers announced that they would honor Jackie Robinson with a statue outside of Dodger Stadium set to be debuted sometime during the 2016 season.

This will be the first-ever statue erected at Dodger Stadium in it's 53-year history.

According to Dodgers president Stan Kasten, the team has not yet determined where the statue will go, but they hope to have a model completed by April.

An area similair to the New York Yankees' "Monument Park" is also a possibility for the Dodgers -- "That's a nice idea, but I don't know yet," Kasten said.

The sculpture will reportedly be about 10-feet high and will be designed around the theme, "leveling the playing field."

Sculptor Branly Cadet will design the statue.
