Irvine Woman Identified After Fatal Fall From Newport Beach Cliff

NEWPORT BEACH (AP) — Authorities said a 65-year-old woman died after she plummeted 40 feet from a seaside cliff in Newport Beach.

County coroner officials said Monday the woman who fell from the cliffs above Pirate's Cove on Saturday was 65-year-old Shahin Eyvazi of Irvine.

Police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said the woman was on the cliffs with family members when she fell, according to the Orange County Register. She was found lying unconscious on the sand of the secluded beach.

Manzella said investigators were trying to determine whether Eyvazi was behind or outside a guardrail at the cliff when she fell.
