Irvine Ranks As Top Calif. Small City To Live

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — Irvine has been named the top small California city to live in for 2014, according to Money Magazine.

The Orange County hub ranked 14th, with no other SoCal city to make the list fo the 50 Best Places to Live 2014.

Money Magazine credits the city with a strong economy, with "more than 100 companies headquartered there -- incredible schools, and acres of green space."

The city is also projected to a 3.3 percent job growth over the next year.

The city, with a population of 222,540 and a median family income of $112,473, is one of the largest master planned communities in the county.

A pair of Northern California cities – Milpitas (29) and Pleasanton (31) – also made the list.

McKinney, Texas topped the annual list.
