Man Killed In Fiery Crash In Irvine

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — An adult man died Wednesday in a fiery traffic collision in Irvine.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m., firefighters were sent to the northbound 133 Freeway at Irvine Center Drive for report of a traffic collision, according to Orange County Fire Authority officials.

Upon their arrival, crews located a white van on its side, resting against the center divider on the roadway while fully engulfed in flames.

An adult man believed to be in his 30s was found inside the vehicle after firefighters extinguished the blaze. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A preliminary investigation revealed the van erupted in flames after the crash took place.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
