Investigation underway after man found shot to death in South Los Angeles

An investigation was launched late Sunday when a man was found shot to death in South Los Angeles. 

It happened at around 8 p.m. in the 1200 block of W. 87th Street in the unincorporated community of Westmont, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. 

Deputies were called to the scene for a shooting and arrived to find one male victim.

Los Angeles County Fire Department crews dispatched to the area declared the man dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified. 

Investigators did not have information available on a suspect or motive in the shooting.
