Investigation Into Suspicious Package Closes Both Sides Of 2 Freeway In Echo Park

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Officers are investigating a suspicious item Saturday, which has shut down the 2 Freeway in both directions near Echo Park.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a bomb squad was called to the scene around 8:30 a.m. to assist in the investigation.

Officers said traffic is being diverted off the southbound side of the freeway to the Glendale Boulevard off ramp.

Authorities did not clarify which side of the freeway the item was discovered on.

It was unclear when officials plan to reopen both directions of the freeway.
