Investigation Continues Into Badly Decomposed Body Found In Monterey Park Car Trunk

MONTEREY PARK (CBSLA.com) — The investigation into the death of a man whose body was found badly decomposed inside a car truck continued Wednesday.

The grisly discovery was made Monday evening in Monterey Park, authorities said.

The body was found about 7:30  in a newer black sedan in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue, according to Sgt. Bill Cotter of the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau.

Cotter said people reported a strong odor to the Monterey Park Police Department late in the afternoon, leading to the discovery of the remains.

The car was not reported stolen, according to Cotter.

The man's body was seriously decomposed, and the cause of death, identity and determination of race and age are all pending the coroner's investigation, said Sgt. Vincent Plair.

There was no suspect information.

Sheriff's homicide detectives asked anyone with information about the case to call (323) 890-5500.
