 B. Proud – Transcending Love Documentary

B. (Barbara) Proud is an award-winning photographer, and documentarian whose work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. Her latest project, Transcending Love, showcases portraits and stories of transgender and gender non-conforming couples across the Nation. Her goal is to offer visibility and open hearts and minds to the extraordinary couples in the transgender and gender non-binary community through photographs, video and text. 

Prior to this project, B. Proud's First Comes Love: Portraits of Enduring LGBTQ Relationships, portrayed couples in long-term relationships. "The portraits in that project were presented in black & white to strip away all of the rainbow flag connotations and ask the viewer to look deeper. Transcending Love is presented in full color because the transgender community is anything but black and white. There are many hues and configurations in these relationships, the portraits ask our society to embrace the full spectrum of the manifestations of their love."

 Invisible Men

Founder Luckie Alexander knows the struggles of the transgender community, as he has experienced them firsthand. His organization, Invisible Men, is dedicated to supporting the transmasculine community by offering resources, education, training and awareness to transmen and trans parents.

Luckie is a member of the Los Angeles County Transgender Advisory Council (TAC), CHIPTS Community Advisory Board member, HIV Commissioner, and more. He is currently a Prevention Training Specialist for the Trans Wellness Program at APLA. Luckie and his wife Sunflower reside in Los Angeles and were participants in B. Proud's Transcending Love documentary.
