Inmate Who Escaped From Pitchess Detention Center Is Recaptured

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — An inmate who escaped from Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic some time early Sunday has been recaptured, authorities said.

The inmate was identified as David Bustamonte, a 43-year-old Latino man. It was not revealed why Bustamonte was behind bars.

He was tracked down around 3 p.m. with the help of scent dogs, officials said.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said that Bustamonte was not present during Sunday's inmate count.

The facility was placed on lockdown.
