Inmate Dies While Being Held At San Luis Obispo County Jail

SAN LUIS OBISPO (AP) — A San Luis Obispo County Jail inmate has died after complaining of a blood sugar imbalance.

A sheriff's office statement said 63-year-old David Osborn of Morro Bay collapsed early Sunday while sitting on a bench outside the jail's medical office.

Osborn was jailed for the second time in as many days on suspicion of being drunk in public.

Officials said Osborn was taken to a hospital for medical clearance before being booked again into county jail. They said he was also seen twice by the medical staff for complaints of blood sugar imbalance, and was still in an inmate intake area when he collapsed.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of his death.
