Woman Critically Hurt In Jump From Third-Story Window To Escape Fire

INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A 54-year-old woman was critically injured Thursday night when she jumped from a third-floor window to escape an apartment fire in Inglewood.

The woman possibly broke her back and a leg, Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervisor Kyle Sandford said.

The blaze started around 7:30 p.m. in a three-story apartment building in the 600 block of Venice Way, Sandford said.

It took 25 firefighters less than 20 minutes to knock down the flames.

No one else was evacuated from the building.

It's unclear what caused the fire.

Officials don't yet know the extent of the damage to the building.
