Homeland Security: ICE Agent Shoots Carjacker In Wilmington

WILMINGTON (CBSLA.com) — A special agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement shot his carjacker while being carjacked in Wilmington Wednesday night, Homeland Security confirmed.

The ICE special agent was in his white Mazda when he was carjacked around 7:45 p.m. near Figueroa and Anaheim streets.

He fired shots at a driver as she and a male passenger sped off, Homeland Security said.

"It sounded like six or seven shots - bang! bang! bang! Then I just heard a car step on the gas real quick," Benjamin Rodriguez.

One mile up the road, police arrested the female driver. Her passenger was wound and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials told CBS2's Stacey Butler that the ICE agent is from out of town visiting Southern California for the holidays.
