Closures Planned For I-405 Freeway This Week Through Sepulveda Pass

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Metro will institute two separate overnight closures of the the I-405 Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass this week.

The first portion of the closure will be from midnight to 5 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

The closure will stretch from Getty Center Drive to the Greenleaf on-ramp near Ventura Boulevard from midnight to 5 a.m. both nights.

Metro will begin closing ramps (Sunset Boulevard, Moraga Driver, Getty Center Drive and Skirball) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, with freeway lanes starting to close three hours later.

"The closure will accommodate shifting K-rail from the inside lanes to the outside lanes and shifting traffic to the west. A re-striping of the freeway lanes in this area will take place," Metro's Dave Sotero said.

The northbound I-405 connector to the northbound 101 Freeway will also be shut down.

Metro recommends drivers use Sepulveda Boulevard as an alternate.

Officials will close the southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway, between Santa Monica to National boulevards, overnight Thursday and Friday to install a full-span overhead sign.

Ramps will close at 7 p.m. followed by lane closures at 10 p.m. All lanes and ramps will be reopened by 5 a.m. the following day.

The southbound connector to the east and westbound 10 Freeway will also be shut down.

The closures are part of the $1.1 billion improvement project scheduled for completion this summer.
