I-215 Through Perris Reopens After Partial Bridge Collapse

PERRIS (CBSLA.com) — All lanes of the northbound Interstate 215 through Perris were reopened Wednesday morning after a nearly 16-hour closure.

The lanes were opened to drivers around 5:15 a.m. after a tractor-trailer, carrying sand, collided with a bridge and caused a partial collapse around 10 a.m. Tuesday, Caltrans said.

The bridge was under construction at the time of the accident.

"There was quite a bit of debris that fell off of where they are expanding the bridge," CHP Officer Travis Monks said.

Southbound lanes were also briefly closed.

The accident remains under investigation.
