Woman Killed In Hyde Park Apartment Fire

HYDE PARK (CBSLA.com) — A woman was hospitalized in grave condition Thursday for treatment of injuries sustained in a structure fire that erupted in Hyde Park.

The fire was reported shortly after 1 a.m. at a two-story apartment building located in the 7500 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard.

Upon their arrival, crews located a well-involved blaze confined to one ground floor unit.

Firefighters rescued an adult woman suffering from from the burning apartment.

Paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries where she later died.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification.

No other injuries were reported.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze within the hour.

CBS2's Kara Finnstrom reported the Red Cross was on hand assisting displaced residents.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
