Huntington Beach homicide: Man shot dead on Tasman Drive

Huntington Beach Police said an adult male was shot dead on the 5200 block of Tasman Drive Monday night. CBSLA

A shooting in Huntington Beach prompted officers to close Tasman Drive between Bolsa Chica Street and Cambay Lane at 9:45 p.m. Monday for several hours.

At the time, area residents were advised to stay indoors and lock doors and windows.

Huntington Beach Police confirmed a homicide investigation was in progress Tuesday morning.

HBPD said officers responded to a report of shots fired on the 5200 block of Tasman Dr. at about 8 p.m. Monday.

Officers found an unresponsive adult male with a gunshot wound. 

The victim, now identified as 31-year-old Los Angeles resident Jimmy Sengpaseuth, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said an unidentified suspect remained at large Tuesday morning. No details were immediately released about the shooting.

Police said there was no current threat to the public.

The victim's identity was not released pending notification of next of kin.
