Huntington Beach Girl, 13, Fatally Struck By Car While Walking On PCH

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A 13-year-old girl was struck and killed by a driver on Pacific Coast Highway Saturday night in Huntington Beach.

Mara Garcia of Huntington Beach was on the northbound side of PCH between Goldenwest Street and Warner Avenue, Lt. Bo Svendsbo said. It happened around 8:45 p.m. near a traffic signal at the entrance to Bolsa Chica State Beach.

She was taken to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, where she died, Los Angeles County Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.

The 62-year-old driver was in a red 2014 Chevy Camaro. He remained at the scene and answered officers' questions before being released, Huntington Beach police Officer J. Marlatt reports.
