Hundreds Converge In Westwood In Solidarity With Portland Demonstrations

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — A few hundred protesters have converged in Westwood on Sunday for another demonstration in solidarity with protests in Portland, Oregon.

Black Lives Matter organized the protest in West L.A. at the Federal Building.

Demonstrators have said they're speaking out against President Donald Trump, police brutality and federal police presence in Portland, which has become a focal point of clashes between protesters and federal police following the death of George Floyd.

Some fights broke out on Sunday after another group clashed with the Black Lives Matter protesters.

During the protests, L.A. County sheriff's deputies guarded the Federal Building, fearing violence could break out.

On Saturday, a similar demonstration in downtown L.A. on Saturday resulted in four arrests and injuries to seven people.

Protesters temporarily blocked the intersection of Veteran Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard, but have since dispersed.
