Hundreds Of Marijuana Plants Discovered Inside Torrance Automotive Business

TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — A man was arrested and hundreds of marijuana plants were seized Thursday from a Torrance business specializing in customizing cars, police said.

Deputies responded at about 5 a.m. Thursday to the 22600 block of Normandie Avenue, in the unincorporated area of Torrance, where an illegal marijuana grow operation was discovered, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said.

Inside the business, detectives seized about 200 pounds of marijuana, dozens of high intensity light bulbs, hydroponics, charcoal filters, fans and 347 raw marijuana plants in various stages of growth, authorities said.

The estimated street value of the marijuana is $200,000, officials said.

The suspect, who was not identified, was arrested on suspicion of illegal cultivation of marijuana and is being held on $50,000 bail. He will appear in court next on Monday.
