Huge Sinkhole Opens Up On Oxnard Street

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A huge sinkhole opened up on a street in Oxnard before 6 a.m. Sunday.

Officials blamed the recent storms for the hole opening up.

The sinkhole, about 20 feet wide, opened at the corner of Ventura Boulevard and Hemlock Street.

Traffic has been rerouted. Authorities said the hole would be repaired sometime Monday afternoon.

There was concern about a traffic light that stands near the hole as well as a gas main in the immediate area.

No injuries were reported.
