Hubble Captures Images of Heavy Metal Stars
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — NASA's Hubble telescope got great pictures of heavy metal stars, and we're not talking about the kind who play in rock bands.
These stars are part of a globular cluster that's over 10 billion years old.
They contain much higher proportions of metals than stars in similar clusters.
The cluster is 35,000 light years away, in the Scorpion constellation.
According to NASA, the stars can reveal important information about mass, radius and luminosity.
They're classified as variable stars, meaning their brightness fluctuates.
