Police Officer Rescues Dog From House Fire In South Pasadena

SOUTH PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A police officer rescued a 17-year-old dog from a house fire in South Pasadena, authorities announced Friday.

The blaze erupted around 1 p.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of Garfield Avenue, according to firefighters.

Upon their arrival, crews located the house partially engulfed in flames.

After attempting to locate any occupants verbally, Officer Brian Wiley forced entry into the home and located a small Maltese named Kolby cowering in the corner of a downstairs room.

No residents were found inside of the home.

Wiley rescued Kolby from the house uninjured, and later reunited the dog with its owner.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
