Evacuations Ordered As Firefighters Battle 100-Acre Blaze In Nuevo

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA) — Firefighters were battling a 100-acre vegetation fire threatening homes in Nuevo Saturday.

The Riverside County Fire Department and CAL FIRE dispatched to the 21000 block of Horseshoe Trail shortly before 6 p.m.

Evacuations were in place for the community of Mayberry near the intersection of Cottonwood Avenue and Warren Road.

The first arriving engine reported the fire burning in heavy fuels with a moderate rate of spread.

The fire was zero percent contained at the time of this report.

A care and reception center has been established at Tahquitz High School, located at 4425 Titan Trail in Hemet.
