Homicides Investigated In South El Monte, Lancaster

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Two separate homicides were being investigated by authorities in Los Angeles County on Sunday.

The first slaying was reported at 11:30 p.m. Saturday in South El Monte. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, a man was stabbed in the 11200 block of Broadmead Street. Deputy Don Walker told City News Service that the man was taken to an area hospital by paramedics, but later pronounced dead.

Detectives learned that evidence related to the killing was found in a home on the same block, the LASD reports. They served a search warrant at that home around noon Sunday and detained several people to determine if they were involved.

Nearly two hours later, at 1:19 a.m. Sunday, a man was shot to death in the 44400 block of Fenhold Street in Lancaster, the Sheriff's Department said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Deputy Tony Moore. There was no other information immediately available.

Anyone with information on either death is asked to call Sheriff's Department homicide detectives at 323-890-5500.
