Homicide Investigation Underway In Rowland Heights

ROWLAND HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Friday investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man in Rowland Heights.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, authorities were sent shortly after 11:40 p.m. Thursday to the 18400 block of Desidia Street for report of a gunshot victim.

Upon their arrival, deputies were directed to an alley where they located an adult Hispanic man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

According to witnesses, the victim and two acquaintances were inside of a garage when two Hispanic men confronted them.

During the confrontation, one suspect produced a handgun and started firing at all three people, subsequently striking the victim once to his upper torso .

The suspects then fled from the area.

No other injuries were reported.

It remains unclear if the incident is gang-related.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
