Homicide Investigation Underway In North Hollywood

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Detectives were conducting a homicide investigation Thursday after a man was fatally shot in front of North Hollywood businesses.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were sent to the a location in the 6300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard between Victory Boulevard and the 170 Freeway, shortly before 6 p.m. for reports of a shooting in the street.

Officers said two men got into a fight in the street. Well-known tattoo artist Michael Pebley, 40, of Pacoima, was fatally wounded and pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic is being diverted in the area while officers continue to investigate and track down witnesses to gather clues.

The suspect is believed to be a white or Hispanic male.

Police described the suspect's vehicle as a 1990s model four-door white Honda Accord.

The relationship between the two men is unclear as well as if the fatal shooting was gang-related.

No arrests have been made and police said the gunman took off on foot from the scene.

A stretch of Laurel Canyon Boulevard remains closed.
