Homicide Investigation Underway In Cypress Park

CYPRESS PARK (CBSLA.com) — Police Thursday investigated a deadly shooting in Cypress Park.

Officers were sent shortly before 2:30 a.m. to the 600 block of North San Fernando Road near Pepper Avenue for report of a shooting with a victim down, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Upon their arrival, homicide detectives located a person in their 20s suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Paramedics transported the victim to USC Medical Center where they were later declared dead. The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A GMC truck was located at the scene. It remains unclear if the victim was inside when they were shot.

Authorities said someone reported hearing three gunshots at the time of the incident.

Detectives have only described the suspect as a Hispanic man who remains at large, and is believed to be armed with a handgun.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
