Homicide investigation launched after man found shot to death in Monterey Park

A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death in Monterey Park on Friday. 

Deputies were called to the 4000 block of E. Cesar Chavez Avenue near Belvedere Community Regional Park at around 10 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. 

Upon arrival, they found the victim. He was taken to a nearby hospital by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics where he was later pronounced dead. 

The victim has not yet been identified. 

Investigators did not provide information on a possible suspect or motive in the shooting.
