Homicide Detectives Investigate Death Of Man In Lakewood

LAKEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Wednesday investigated the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Lakewood.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent just after 3:30 a.m. to the 6200 block of Carpintero Avenue for report of a person not breathing.

Upon their arrival, authorities located an unresponsive adult Hispanic man.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.  His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A man at the residence told detectives he witnessed a third person strangle the victim before fleeing from the area. He described the suspect as an adult Caucasian man.

Detectives are working to verify the relationship between the victim, witness and suspect.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
