Homicide Detectives Investigating Suspicious Death Of Infant In Lancaster

LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Wednesday were investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspicious death of an infant in Lancaster.

Family members of the baby contacted police Tuesday and reported that the infant was injured inside a home in the 2300 block of East Avenue J-8, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The little boy was transported to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for a traumatic brain injury.

He was later pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation revealed the account of what happened given by family members was inconsistent with the type of injury the child sustained.

The exact cause of death was yet to be determined.
