Man Arrested In Stabbing Death Of His Grandmother At East LA Home

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 23-year-old man was been arrested in the stabbing death of this grandmother, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Armando Sepulveda was arrested late Monday following an investigating at a home he shared with the 59-year-old woman in the 100 block of North Gage Avenue in East LA.

The victim's body was discovered just before noon after deputies responded to the residence on a welfare check.

"With the assistance of the Los Angeles County Coroner, Homicide Investigators have learned the victim suffered from multiple stab wounds to the upper torso,"  Dep. Crystal Hernandez said in a statement.

Neighbors said they heard fighting at the home that morning and heard the woman didn't show up for work.

"She was screaming, banging on walls and all that," Belinda Munoz said.

Nearby residents said no one answered the door at the home when a woman came looking for the victim hours later.

Sepulveda was arrested and booked at the East Los Angeles Station for murder. He was being held on $1 million bail.
