Homicide Detectives Investigate Shooting Death Of Man In LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 25-year-old man on Tuesday.

Shortly after 11:45 p.m. on Monday, deputies were sent to the 12200 block of Elva Avenue for report of a gunshot victim call, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities located an adult African American man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital where he later died. The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification.

"Detectives have learned that the victim was standing on the street with a female companion when the suspects approached in a four-door vehicle," said Deputy Mike Barraza. "One of the suspects, described as a male black adult, exited the vehicle from the driver side rear passenger door and shot the victim."

Deputies went on the explain the suspect then re-entered the vehicle and fled southbound on Elva Avenue.

The investigation is ongoing as it remains unknown if the shooting is gang-related.
