Homes Evacuated In Granada Hills After 'Possible' Pipe Bomb Spotted

GRANADA HILLS (CBSLA.com) — An LAPD bomb squad was dispatched to a Granada Hills home Tuesday after a cleaning crew reported seeing a "possible pipe bomb", a handgun and some ammunition.

KNX 1070's Jon Baird reports some homes along the 16400 block of Simonds Street were evacuated as the investigation got underway.

Explosives experts were dispatched about 11 a.m. and remained at the scene several hours later, said LAPD Officer Sara Faden.

Students at nearby Kennedy High School were being advised that they could leave school, but only from the Woodley Avenue side of the campus, police said. The campus was not under lockdown.

No other information was immediately available.
