Police Search For Two Suspects In Connection With Tujunga Home Invasion, Fire
SUNLAND (CBSLA.com) — Police Tuesday were searching for two suspects accused of breaking into a Tujunga home and setting fire to a carpet before fleeing.
A 52-year-old man was sleeping in the home at around 4 a.m. when two suspects broke into the house in the 10200 block of Fairgrove Avenue.
The suspects struck the man on his head and tied him up. The suspects were described only as two men wearing masks.
The burglars took some cash from the house and fled, before setting fire to a carpet, detectives said.
The homeowner was able to escape the fire without sustaining injuries. He returned with a garden hose to extinguish the blaze.
The motive for the incident remains under investigation.
Neighbors said break-ins are highly unusual in their community.
"There's never been any issues on this street," Perla Rivera, a neighbor, said. "We're all very surprised."
