OC, Riverside County Brush Fires Continue To Burn

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters continue to battle blazes in Orange County and Riverside counties.

The Holy Fire, which broke out early Wednesday morning in the general area of Holy Jim Canyon near Rancho Santa Margarita, has burned 155 acres and is 20 percent contained, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Four firefighters suffered minor injuries battling the blaze, which has prompted some voluntary evacuations, but nothing mandatory, OCFA Capt. Larry Kurtz said.

In Cherry Valley, the battle against the Bogart Fire is in its third day. The blaze, which broke out near Winesap Avenue and International Park Road on the edge of Borgart Park, has scorched 1,470 acres and was 80 percent contained as of Wednesday night.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury while on the fire lines Tuesday and was hospitalized but is expected to be fine. Three other people suffered minor injuries.

Authorities suspect the Bogart Fire to be arson. Anyone with information of juvenile activity near the north end of Winesap Avenue near the entrance gate to Bogart Park in Beaumont around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday can call the Arson Hotline at (800) 633-2836.
