Hollywood Water-Main Break Causes Rush-Hour Traffic Delays

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) – A break in a water main caused traffic delays in Hollywood.

Workers from the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power were on the scene at Highland Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard about 5 p.m. Monday after a small break was reported, resulting in pavement collapse at the intersection.

KCAL9's Kevin Takumi reported northbound Highland was closed, with traffic being diverted at Romaine Street. Eastbound Santa Monica Boulevard was also closed, with traffic rerouted through residential areas.

A LADWP spokesperson said one commercial customer lost service as a result of the break.

Crews were expected to remain on the scene until midnight.
