Grammy winners Lupe Fiasco, Jennifer Hudson and Common performed their new track "Remission" on the telecast for the first time. The song, a remix of Fiasco's "Mission," is intended to empower those facing cancer, celebrate survivors and those who have died from cancer-related illnesses.

"Remission" will be available from digital retailers immediately after the telecast performance, with artist, producer and record label royalties being donated to Stand Up To Cancer, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, the television and film industries' philanthropic organization.

Other musical performers included The Who, Ariana Grande and Dave Matthews Band.

Instead of the traditional phone bank staffed by celebrities, the telecast featured a "digital lounge" hosted by Yahoo News global anchor Katie Couric, with stars reaching out to viewers via telephone, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms in a campaign dubbed "We're Calling You."

Stand Up To Cancer was established in 2008 by film and media leaders as a new collaborative model of cancer research. More than $261 million has been pledged to support its programs.

Stand Up To Cancer has funded 12 teams of researchers, two translational research teams and 26 young scientists.
