Hit-And-Run Suspect Sought After Slamming Stolen Vehicle Into Pedestrian, Building In Garden Grove

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — Police Tuesday were searching for a hit-and-run suspect wanted for seriously injuring a pedestrian in Orange County.

The accident took place just after 9:30 p.m. Monday on Garden Grove Boulevard and Benton Street in Garden Grove, officials said.

Police say the suspect stole a white 2000 Ford Excursion, drove the vehicle into a pedestrian who was on a sidewalk before slamming it into the side of a building.

The victim was thrown several feet into the air. He was transported to the ICU at UCI Medical Center where he is expected to survive.

The driver fled the scene on foot.

He was described as a black man wearing a grey-hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Due to the damage amount, a Garden Grove building inspector red-tagged the building that was struck.
