Hit-And-Run Suspect Allegedly Flees From Police While At Hospital

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a man accused in a hit-and-run crash in Simi Valley has been captured again after allegedly fleeing a hospital while in police custody.

Patrick Bowman of Thousand Oaks was arrested about 8:13 p.m. Saturday after being detained by several citizens following an accident in the area of Madera Road and Royal Avenue, Simi Valley police said in a written statement.

When officers arrived, they found the 29-year-old and arrested him on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and hit-and-run, the statement said.

Bowman, who was allegedly showing signs of intoxication, was subsequently taken to Los Robles Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

While at the hospital, police said he managed to flee on foot.

A perimeter was established but yielded no results. Police said a deputy with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department subsequently detained Bowman while on patrol.

Bowman was expected to be booked on suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run, escape from custody, and for a parole hold, police said.
