Driver Running Away After Hitting Chatsworth Sign Struck By Oncoming Vehicle

CHATSWORTH (CBSLA) — A collision in Chatsworth ended when a driver tried to flee the scene before being struck by an oncoming vehicle.

The collision occurred on the 118 Freeway and Topanga Canyon Boulevard. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, The suspect was taken to the hospital after being struck by a car. The suspect's condition is unknown at this time.

The driver reportedly was the only vehicle involved in the accident, according to California Highway Patrol. After the crash, the suspect reportedly exited the vehicle and ran down an embankment onto Topanga Canyon Boulevard where they were struck by another vehicle. The other driver involved in the collision with the suspect remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

LAPD has taken over the investigation on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, while CHP is handling the scene on the 118 freeway.
