Bicyclist Hospitalized After Being Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver In Anaheim

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — A teenage boy remained hospitalized Monday after a hit-and-run collision that occurred in Anaheim.

The crash was reported just before 11 p.m. Sunday in the area of Brookhurst Street and Ball Road, according to police.

Upon their arrival, authorities learned the victim -- a 14-year-old boy -- was struck by a vehicle while he rode his bicycle in the area.

Paramedics transported the bicyclist to UCI Medical Center in Orange in stable condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a grey Dodge Caravan drove erratically before the crash, and failed to stop to render aide to the victim.

The driver fled from the scene.

Police said the boy was riding in the bicycle lane and wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was not a contributing factor to the collision.

Detectives said the minivan most likely has significant damage to the front end, hood and windshield.

Anyone with information about this incident has been urged to contact the Anaheim Police Department at (855) TIP-OCCS.
