Historic East LA Home Makes A Move Across The Street

LOS ANGELES (AP) — An historic East Los Angeles home has been relocated to make way for low-income housing but it will have a new life.

The Peabody Werden House was jacked up and placed on a truck Thursday morning to move it across a street in Boyle Heights.

The East Los Angeles Community Corporation moved the 1895 house to make way for a 50-unit affordable housing project.

The corporation's Isela Gracian says the two-story Queen Anne building will be restored and used to host community programs. That should take about two years.
