Highland Woman Arrested For The Alleged Sexual Assault Of Her 2 Daughters

HIGHLAND (CBSLA.com) — Cell phone pictures lead to the arrest of a San Bernardino County woman for allegedly sexually assaulting her two young daughters.

Evelyn Alvarez, 28, was arrested Wednesday for lewd acts with a child, the sheriff's department said.

According to authorities, the Highland Police Department was contacted by officials at Kern Valley State Prison after correctional officers searched an inmate's cell and found a cell phone.

"Upon reviewing the contents of that cellular phone, they located digital photographs of the suspect, Evelyn Alvarez, sexually assaulting her two minor daughters," Det. Donald Patton said.

An investigation revealed that Alvarez had taken the pictures while in the act and then sent them to the inmate.

Alvarez was arrested at her Highland home and booked into the West Valley Detention Center where she is being held on $250,000 bail.

She was scheduled to make her first court appearance Friday.
