Large Surf, Strong Rip Currents Expected Along Shoreline

MANHATTAN BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Expect to see very large surf and strong rip currents along the shore, meteorologists said Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, a coastal flood advisory will remain in effect until 7 a.m. and a high surf advisory will be in force until noon.

Large swells will bring high surf to area beaches today, subsequently causing moderate coastal flooding and significant beach erosion during times of high tide.

Lifeguards warned there is an increased chance for ocean drowning today. Sneaker waves can wash people off beaches and rock jetties.
